ENGLISH 1010--Intro to Writing
Reflective Writing
All of the assignments given in this English class have challenged my thinking and writing.
I shared a past experience in second-person, in the Reflective Paper or Personal Narrative, while using five different sentence beginnings throughout. I chose a difficult time in my life feeling it would be therapeutic, but found it hard to connect to the event, while using the varied sentence structures.
Using many adjectives, I wrote about my favorite place, in the Vignette assignment. This was probably my favorite writing assignment. I loved really thinking about what I see and feel when I am there.
In the Movie Review, I critiqued two movies with a distinguishing commonality, as if I worked for a local newspaper. This assignment pushed me to express my opinion and develop my own voice within the paper.
The Response Paper was similar to the Movie Review, however it was a published author’s essay that I critiqued, instead of a movie. The biggest problem I faced writing this paper was challenging a published author. I played “devil’s advocate” imagining I was writing to all of the people that have read the essay. I was somewhat successful in doing this, but feel I could have done a better job if I had more time.
In all of my writing, I was most pleased with the tone of the papers. I feel I was at least able to clearly express my attitude towards each subject.
